Since the riots erupted predominantly in the provinces of KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, many citizens and government officials disapproving of the unrest and the damage caused by the looting that accompanied the riots, have been in active participation of cleanup missions that have been set up in different regions of the provinces.
One active government official has been Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries and Member of the ANC National Executive Committee, Barbara Creecy who was seen providing assistance at the damaged Protea Glen Mall in Soweto, Gauteng this morning.
She was there working in collaboration with Working on Fire, a Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment funded Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) focusing on job creation through Integrated Fire Management, as stipulated on their social media.
Their efforts contributed to the restoration of damaged property as a result of the ongoing unrest.
