Nandos are known for their edgy advertising, and also their quick turn-around times. Both were on display on Tuesday when very quickly after the Constitutional Court handing down their decision about the Jacob Zuma case, Nandos also chimed in.
The former president appointed the Zondo Commission into state capture, headed by former Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo. However the former President had repeatedly refused to accept the Commission's authority over him and had failed to obey instructions to appear before the body. In desperation Justice Zondo had submitted the case to the Constitutional Court.
It's the highest court in the land and deals with Constitutional issues. The same Constitution that former-President Zuma swore to uphold when he held the highest office in the land.
Now the court has sentenced him to 15 months imprisonment for his repeated failure to appear before the State Capture Commission.
Nandos and their ad agency were as usual quick to respond to the national zeitgeist with their latest ad. Poking fun at the former President and his legal woes. The ad references the infamous time that Jacob Zuma stumbled over reading out a large number - and also the five days that the court gave him to hand himself over to Correctional Services.
