We have all become used to the clockwork regularity of the Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize's daily press releases about the status of the Covid-19 outbreak in South Africa.
Every day since March we've been getting the update on the number of people tested, the number of positives cases, and, unfortunately the number of deaths. Now on Sunday 18th Dr Mkhize took centre stage in his own press release when he announced that both he and his wife have tested positive for the virus.
Many world leaders and politicians have been infected with Covid-19 and subsequently recovered. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was infected in April and was apparently close to death on one occasion while being treated in ICU. However he made a full recovery. US President Donald Trump was recently also hospitalised but made a quick recovery - possibly because new treatments are now available.
Closer to home, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde also became positive with Covid-19 earlier in the year. Although Winde was considered to be a high risk because he does suffer from diabetes, he made a full recovery.
