Millions of doses of the South African made Johnson&Johnson vaccines are expected to be exported to Europe and this has not received the best response with some calling it "shameful".

The Director and Founder of Health Justice Initiative, Fatima Hassan, has spoken out against the inequality of vaccines slamming the alleged unjust contract between South Africa and Johnson & Johnson.

The contract in two respects raises quite a number of red flags. It includes a provision which basically prevents South African government from taking any kind of steps to limit exports or introduce export ban for the vaccines produced by Aspen for Johnson & Johnson.

Hassan also said that the waiver Johnson & Johnson contains in its contract simple means that, the company can export as many vaccines produced in South Africa to any part of the world.

She revealed that Johnson & Johnson has chosen to send the vaccines produced in South Africa to countries like North America, Spain and Europe.

Hassan also added that a number of exports processed by Johnson & Johnson happened when South Africa was battling with thirdwave insurgence.

The Health Injustice Director critically said that these exports happened when South Africa was also experiencing delays of Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

The contract which South Africa signed with Johnson & Johnson allows the vaccine company to export vaccines outside Africa, ahead of South Africa and African continent, said Hassan.

Hassan says there can't be secrets in the pandemic the contract had to be exposed and the government has also confirmed the contract.

The South African government is reported to have told the New York Times that they had to sign the contract or there would be no vaccines for South Africa.

Hassan said South Africa hasn't yet received the 31-million vaccines promised by Johnson & Johnson, or even six million for that matter.

The Johnson & Johnson contract with South Africa has been widely slammed as encouraging inequality among the rich and Poor countries.

Its reported that South Africa has administered only about two million Johnson & Johnson shots.

This is revealed as the key reason that fewer than 7 percent of South Africans are fully vaccinated and that the country was devastated by the Delta variant.
