The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has successfully landed a new rover, Perseverance, on the Red Planet, in the most ambitious mission yet to the planet.
The journey of the Perseverance through space took seven months. The rover survived a perilous high-speed plunge through the Martian atmosphere and made it safely onto Mars.
The arrival of the rover was confirmed with a tweet.
Thus far, it is the most advanced rover ever sent to another planet. NASA hopes it will eventually return samples to Earth.
Its mission is to search for ancient life that may have existed billions of years ago.
